David Bodanis is a popular science writer. Originally from Chicago, he lived in France for ten years. He is now based in London.

His first commercial success The Secret House: 24 hours in the strange & wonderful world in which we spend our nights and days established him with the literary style of "microphotography", an unusual perspective in the form of a detailed worm's-eye view of human life, featuring complex and obscure explanations of everyday phenomena.

He continued developing this style in other books, including the successful E=mc2: A Biography of the World's Most Famous Equation and Electric Universe, winner of the Aventis Prize. He has been translated into 26 languages and featured on the cover of The Economist.

Bodanis is also a popular conference speaker. His agency JLA state that his speech "highlights future trends in society, technology and the economy, with particular reference to energy and climate change."
