Usually have liked Barton's books BUT this one is waaaaaay to long, the banter between the two main characters gets repetitive and boring since you already know they will fall in bed then fall in love, etc. the trips to the prison to interview a 'killer' is based too much on the Hannibal Lector character and gets tedious and boring, it could've been written better and a shorter version to keep your attention better. sorry if it spoils some of the plot

I need to clarify the 3 star rating for this one, I have not read the 11 books prior in this series and I think that may have been essential. There are alot of references that I think the reader already knows if he/she has been following the series. This book was lengthy, it had a long start up and it was hard for me to get "invovled" with the characters. I found myself not too fond of the main investigative team and the "original" bad guy reminded me of Hannibal Lector, just creepy! It has some twists and turns, but I would recommend reading from the beginning of this series.
