our hero Eddie finds himself taken hostage by a group of escaped convicts. This book introduces us to a new array of bizarre characters, consistent with those previously introduced in book 1. Book begins with his Crazy Uncle needing his assistance removing a coffin that found its way on their property, which leads them to coffin opening and them finding a magician in a magic act gone wrong, which leads into a hot air balloon crash landing on their shrubbery containing the magicians assistant in a stolen balloon, and so the madness goes on. I basically liked the book, but it's not meant to be deep, profound, or has any basic themes except for bizarre weirdness. It's meant to be obsurd, and it was.

A fun kid's read very much along the lines of Lemony Snicket's "Unfortunate Events". Book two of the series.
