from the back cover:
The year is A.D. 793. Shawna does not believe in dragons. Yet they come. They come from the north, three Viking dragon ships of the danes to plunder and destroy. Her family slain, Shawna is torn from her island home just off the coast of Ireland. In a gallant gesture, the powerful Doyal Dalaiin adopts her and her nephews. Doyle's son, a scholar and a man of God, grows to love the fiercely independent Shawna. His gentle spirit and intellect are a comfort to her, and they share a passion for the Scriptures. But as her friendship with a captured Norse slave developes, she realizes she has more then one passion. Confused by her feelings for a man who helped slay her people, Shawna learns to trust in God's wisdom, care, and perfect timing. Follow Shawna as she copes with her turbulent world in this unusual novel of love, hate, faith, and daring action.
This is not you average Christian fiction novel. It is wrought with serious issues that we have never imagined that era to have so closely resembled our own. It is truly a very deeply affecting read. Not your easy, quick Christian fiction, so don't be swayed by the "romance" statement. It is more hard-core then you would imagine!

Book 1 in the Heroes of the Misty Isle series. An interesting story that takes place in 793 AD and a budding romance between and Irish girl and a Norseman slave. I enjoyed it and all the characters.
