I think this plotline would've been a good one if it had a better writer
Even though it is a short book it is overrun with unnecessary descriptions, Goldman seems to think it's necessary to describe every little detail, we don't need to know every turn that is made on the highway or what roads are intersecting or stoplights, we don't need to know every detail about every house from the color of the carpet to the design of the drapes etc., we don't need to know every detail about what they eat or how it's prepared or what the inside of the restaurant looks like, and we don't need to know every detail of what everyone is wearing, so for a 300 page book if you take all that out you'd have about 250 pages---maybe less
I did like the two main characters, Ellie and Shap, one is a detective and one is a P.I. and the story might've been better with a different writer, however, the story is not a new one but one that's been told before
I doubt I'd seek anymore by Goldman because this one did not satisfy my desire for a great thriller/suspense book
