I really enjoyed this book. Wow, what a hard working, driven man! When I got toward the end I couldn't put it down even though I knew how his trial by fire turned out. If you like to read biographies don't miss this one.

Absolutely amazing story of the ultimate in the American dream. Whether you think you know about the life of Justice Thomas or whether you know that you don't, you will be moved by this powerful book.

This was an interesting read. It gives you some perspective of Justice Thomas' childhood life and adult professional life. Even if you don't share all of his political views it sheds light on some of his beliefs. However, there were instances where he made some statements without explanation and contradicted himself sometimes. This gave the feeling that he was not always honest, but this is an autobiography so, of course you're not going to find any unflattering content about himself since he wrote it. Therefore, I take what he states for what it is, his views. Most of the book was interesting, but near the end, it was almost all about his professional life which got a little boring, but overall an alright read.

I really enjoyed this book. A true American story and proof that if you are willing to work hard, this country makes it possible to succeed.

A story of what America's ideals can allow individuals to achieve. An exposure of the sordid ugly side of America's struggles with its ideals and the misuse of power that it's Constitution was designed to 'limit'.

An interesting story about a man who seems to be very complex.

This is an inspiring story. It is a testimony to the human spirit. It is also a testimony to the greatness of our country and the opportunity afforded to every individual regardless of circumstances. I left the book feeling good about America (something that seems to be anathema in these times). I also left it with an admiration for Justice Thomas.

Easy read. Very revealing, could probably have been a much longer memoir, but Judge Thomas seemed to hold back.

Clarence Thomas has a very interesting story from rags to riches. Hopefully it's something better this book to read at his very controversial supreme court judge ment.

This book was a great walk through recent history for me. I appreciated Clarence Thomas sharing the path that led him to where he is. It's a reminder that regardless of an individual's background, he or she can still succeed if they put effort into it. A great American story.

I am so glad I read this book. Great insight on the goings on in D.C., but also a great biography of Clarence Thomas.

I was curious about his traveled road to the Supreme Court, and I enjoyed the memoir of Judge Clarence Thomas immensely. What an amazing story about the influences that shaped his life.

What an amazing story of a child born into poverty, raised in poverty by grandparents determined to give him a better life and is now serving on the Supreme Court. Honest and painful at times, Judge Thomas doesn't pull any punches about mistakes he made, yet his determination to live life for the long term inspires the reader to strive to do his best no matter what the circumstances.

One of the best autobiographies I have ever read. It tells Justice Thomas's remarkable life story. I hope that someday he writes a continuation of his life on the court.
