This book is an eye-opening personal account of the emotional and financial harms that MLMs inflict upon their representatives. Although some of the author's mini-rants about the evils of MLMs can be repetitive, overall the writing is engaging as the author weaves information about the predatory way MLMs operate with her personal journey towards sobriety and gaining financial independence.
I found the chapter about how the pandemic made MLM reps already conditioned to be in a cult-like atmosphere more susceptible to the lies of QAnon and the anti-vax movement. Even worse was how the companies exploited fear for financial gain by allowing false claims about their products and abusing the loan program intended for actual small businesses with employees whose livelihoods depended on them.
This was a fascinating read, and I applaud the author for telling her story so honestly, warts and all.
