Nevada Barr is entertaining. Her stories are sometimes a little over the top of believeability. As someone who lives at the entrance to and spends a great deal of time in one of the National Parks that she hasn't written about, I,m waiting for that book to be written. I've read about 10 of her books, which should say sometime about my reaction to her writings.
Anna Pidgeon, national park ranger, finds herself undercover at Yosemite National Park, CA, to investigate the disappeance of 4 young employees. A page turner, Nevada Barr is on my favorite list. Don't miss any of the Anna P. series.
Excellent writing as always by Nevada Barr, but more consistently violent than the earlier books in this series. Anna goes under cover in Yosemite after four young park employees disappear. I generally don't like descriptive writing, but Barr does a masterful job of giving us the feel for the natural features of the national park with a light hand.
It's fall in the Sierra Mountains, and Anna Pigeon is investigating the disappearance of four seasonal park employees in Yosemite National Park. She follows the scent of evil, taking a solo hike up a snowy trail to the high country, seeking answers. What waits for her is a nightmare of death and greed--and perhaps her final adventure.
