I'm not really sure what to say about this one, however, I will say I didn't finish it, why? when I reached about the middle of the book it had really gone NOWHERE!
It's written in 3 timelines and I get very tired of trudging through stories like that, this one just reached a point I was just bored
It does say on the front it is 'vol 1' so I assume it means there will be more to this story but I won't be following along
My main peeve is any author that has to tell a story in the format of 'before/after' 'then/now' etc. I just close it and return to the library, I hate that format and most of the time it just makes for a long drawn out boring story
I guess I'll be in low rating category but everyone has their own opinion, it started out fairly good (I did get half way) but went downhill and got boring
I enjoyed this one. The "Hollow Ones" are a bit like the demon in the movie "Fallen" as they take control of people and cause horror and chaos. They get a rush when a human host dies and they are ejected. I particularly enjoyed the character of Hugo Blackwood. Good, creepy reading.
Fans of the writing team Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan will appreciate the focus on the monsters at the center of the tale. . . The book is a quick read. . . del Toro and Hogan ground the story in just enough reality to keep you turning the pages.
They have yet another twisted masterpiece on their hands. An enduring new series combining horror, suspense, and fable.
