A slow drawn out read. The ending was brilliant and worth the effort. I think this would have been a better short story.

A young woman came to in a hospital in a town she had never heard of and was told she was in a bad car accident. She can't remember anything about where they told her they worked. And dead men from a terrible incident in her youth are everywhere in this hospital and are threatening her......very good and with a completely surprise ending.

Dean Koontz is a master of his trade. This little gem of a book was memorable to me. The protagonist is a woman who wakes up in a hospital with amnesia, and she (with us along for the ride) must unravel what happened to her. Great!

Early and classic Koontz.
A terrified woman wakes up in a hospital, with only shadowy memories of 4 strangers. Good mystery by a brilliant storyteller.

Typical Koontz, if you like his writing, they're all entertaining and usually thought provoking.

This was a good book, however I wasn't able to get into like his others. The ending is really strange, you definitly don't see it coming.
Susan wakes up in a hospital room unable to remember her name. What accident brought her here? Why can't she remember anything and why is she sure someone is lying to her? Who are the 4 shadowy strangers waiting in the corridors. Step by step she unlocks her mind, and step by step she approaches the single most frightening night of her life...waged by 4 men in the House of Thunder.

One of Koontz's earlier novels, from back when he used to write powerful suspense thrillers with realistic characters that weren't perfect and didn't always have sickly-sweet happy endings (unlike the crap he writes nowadays).

This is absolutely one of his best books. The title is fitting too- House of Thunder.
The house in this book is not one I've forgotten- even though I read this book years ago. And the characters, the ones that aren't on the good side, have left lasting impressions. I know I'll read the book again, I'm betting it will freak me out as much as the first time around.

The best part of this book was the ending- it gave me a bit of a surprise.

Beginning is exciting, mid-part drags a little, ending is clever but somewhat unbelievable. All in all, better than average suspense thriller.

This is a book written during the cold war era. Intriguing plot, but not terribly believable today.

Another page turner by that master of suspense and horror. All these terrible, mysterious events take place, and Susan Thorton gradually learns that NO ONE is on her side . . .
I'm extremely glad that I didn't pick up this novel to read during my hospital stay a few months back. I'd never have slept again!

From inside cover: She woke up in a hospital room, barely able to remember her own name. What secrets lay hidden within Susan Thorton's mind? What terrible accident brought her here? And who were the four shadowy strangers--waiting, like death--in the darkened corridors? One by one, Susan unlocked these mysteries. And step by step, she approached the torment of her past--a single night of violence, waged by four young men in THE HOUSE OF THUNDER.

Not close to being the best effort of Dean Koontz. It was an amusing read, but not up to the quality of other titles.

In a cavern called The House of Thunder, Susan Thornton watched in horror as her lover was beaten to death in a college hazing. During the next several years, the four young men involved in the fraternity rite also died violently. Or did they?

A Small tear at end of binding. It doesn't affect the binding at all.
