Jacy Nova was born in Portland, Oregon and is part Arapaho and Blackfoot Indian. She lived in Europe from 1996, until returning to Los Angeles in 2001; joining a creative group and pursuing a writing career. In 2008, she launched the popular gossip blog Astrochicks.com.

The Vampress Girls storyline was created by Nick Nova and developed by Nova, who said the idea for Vampress Girls was a series of anime characters. In 2007, the concept along with a series of characters, was presented to Kensington Books, who signed a book deal in June 2007.
