Serial killer Melvin Royal has escaped from prison. Melvin's former wife, Gwen Proctor, along with their kids, have been trying to stay a few steps ahead of Melvin and his followers who call themselves Absalom. Gwen realizes she'll never have peace until Melvin and Absalom are stopped. Leaving her kids with the only people she can trust, Gwen and Sam Cade, the brother of one of Melvin's victims, work to draw out Gwen's former husband and stop him forever.

After the shocking ending of the first book in the series, I couldn't wait to read this one. Each chapter is told from the point-of-view of either Gwen, Sam, Lanny or Connor. We saw how hard it was for Gwen to leave her children behind while she hunts for Melvin. It was equally hard for Lanny and Connor who felt abandoned by both parents.

This story was intense. I wanted to smack Connor for his stupidity. I felt awful for Gwen when no one believed her. The end of the book was very satisfying. I can't figure out where the storyline will go now, but I'll be reading the next book. My rating: 5 Stars.

The first book was very good and I looked forward to this one (glad I got it from the library) but can't give it more than 2.5 stars

You must read the first book in order to know exactly what is happening here so DON'T start with this one

I had high hopes for this book but it was not a satisfying read for me,
CONS:
1. stupid kids
2. lacks suspense
3. repeats and repeats again and again
4. by midway just got slow and draggy
5. ending sucked
PROS:
1. this is not a romance, per se, there are no graphic sex scenes to suffer through
2. there might be a few places with the 'f' word but mostly it doesn't have much foul language
3. as for the story? can't really think of any 'pro', just another sequel that doesn't equal the first book

I know it get some 5 stars and that's fine, I always say 'to each their own' everyone has different taste in what to expect from a book

Gwen's husband, Melvin, has escaped from prison. With the help of Sam Cade, Gwen is hunting for her husband. Will she be able to find him before he destroys her and her children?
Better than the first book. Characters are well-drawn. Plot leaves you on the edge of your seat. Ending makes you want to read the third book. Recommended.

#2 in the "Stillhouse" series. Gwen and Sam are on the trail of Melvin after his prison break. Delving deeper into Absalom and the dark web drags Gwen deeper into Melvin's clutches. Is the hunter becoming the hunted? Leaving the children with trusted friends, Gwen goes all in the find & eliminate the threat of Melvin and his evil cohorts. Betrayal, deceit, horror, and suspense round out the book. I would've gave it another star but I didn't like it when the story started exploring a gay lifestyle. Ruined the book for me because I'm sure it will be revisited in the next book
