Kim Wozencraft (born in Dallas, Texas) is the author of the novel Rush, on which a 1991 film was based.

Wozencraft based the novel Rush on events in her real life although she sold it as fiction, and changed the names of the characters. Wozencraft and her partner, later her husband, Creig Matthews, served time in federal prison for civil rights violations as a result of false drug arrests they made in Tyler, Texas in the late 1970s depicted in Rush. A key feature of Wozencraft's work in Rush is that - if one believes her - she confesses to engaging in vigilante justice by committing murder.

Author David Ellsworth wrote the complete, nonfiction version of the story in his book, Smith County Justice [Discovery Press, 1985] several years before Wozencraft published her novel.
