While a great page turner of a thriller, it was a bit more graphic than the Christian Fiction I am used to reading. There were scenes that were not for the faint of heart and the pages relating the thinking of the killer could be disturbing.

Despite the harsh facts of the book, I enjoyed the investigative chase. There was never a dull moment.

I really liked the family dynamics in this book. The dialogue between family members and friends was very realistic.

Patrick is back. He & Lien-hua are engaged and planning the wedding when a monster from his past resurfaces. Kidnappings, murders, counterfeit prescription drugs, & another killer that Patrick failed to jail all put him in a tailspin toward the dark side. When someone close to him is kidnapped he has to walk the fine line of becoming a monster to catch a monster and possibly putting down the monsters by illegal means or not. A dilemma that has Patrick questioning everything he believes in.

A weak 3 stars from me.

I have liked all the Bowers books but this one just wasn't as good, it is way too long and wordy, I found myself skipping pages just so I wouldn't have to read so many pages of a 'wordy' explanation of something and it just went on and on and on about things that just weren't interesting so I skipped a lot of pages

I thought it was so predictable it wasn't very interesting and some of the happenings in it just didn't ring true, I didn't find it exciting or thrilling.

More hopeful for next book and this series needs to finish up.

I loved this book, as with all of Steven James' books. I was captivated from the first page. The suspense keeps you up all night wanted to know what will happen next.
Two thumbs up for The King!
