Cherokee Pointe, Tennessee, has seen murder before, but nothing like what has claimed the life of Jamie Upton, heir to the Uptone fortune. The crime is so vicious, so personal and filled with hatred, the authorities are certain it had to be someone he knew..someone hiding an unimaginable sadistic streak behind a friendly facade. The number one suspect is Jamie's former lover Jazzy Talbot. The girl from the wrong side of the tracks has always been Cherokee Pointe's favorite target for gossip and worse, Jazzy knows she didn't kill Jamie..just as she knows, she's being watched, stalked like prey...And then the kille strikes again, and again. No one believes her innocence except enigmatic drifter Caleb McCord. Jazzy plunges into a small town's long-buried secrets and shocking family sins..each startling truth bringing her dangerously close to a killer determined to make Jazzy the last to die.....

Rich and spoiled Jamie Upton, heir to the Upton fortune, is back in town accompanied by his fiancée. Jamie is known for a long line of lovers. Having a fiancée isn't slowing him down at all. When Jamie's tortured body is found in a cabin on the mountain, his former lover, Jazzy Talbot, is the prime suspect. Jazzy is certain that someone is watching her; but can't prove it. Her friends believe in her innocence, but the rest of the town considers her a murderer. Caleb McCord, the bouncer Jazzy hired at her club, is worried about her and is sticking close. When another murder occurs, secrets from the past come to light and threaten Jazzy's life.

This is the second book in the Cherokee Pointe trilogy. The suspense portions of the book kept my interest. The local psychic saw Jamie's murder and knows that the killer was a woman. There were several viable suspects to sort through. I liked that the author gave us enough information to pick out the killer. The romance portion of the story was okay, but felt unfinished by the end of the book. I hope Jazzy and Caleb's story continues in the last book of the series. The graphic torture scenes and the over-the-top sex scenes were a little too much for me. Be warned that many readers will not like this. My rating: 3.5 Stars.

I didn't realize when I put this on my WL that I've already reviewed this book under a different IBSN, I don't change my rating of only 2*, by page 100 nothing and I mean nothing toward the suspense of this story has happened, it just another 'romance' book and the first 100+ pages are nothing but that, I don't exactly know when the suspense started because I gave it up before page 150, it just a long drawn out romance and I hate those kind of books

Also, this is just a current REPRINT, the copyright on this book is 2004 and Barton passed away a long time ago so someone else is making money
