When Eliana moved to Italy with her new husband, the future was bright with promise. Tuscany held magic in it's sprawling vineyards, great food, and centuries of art. Her family and friends all thought she had made the right choice in following her heart and the man she fell in love with and married, by moving back to his native country. In America, Eliana's story was that of a fairy tale.
But in Italy, Eliana finds her husband to be a different man, leaving her alone to care for their young son, struggling with the asthma that threatens to take his life.
And then along comes a fellow American, a deeply thoughtful man with a mysterious passion for art........
"Those who enjoyed THE CHRISTMAS BOX are in for another treat." Publishers Weekly
"An Italian came to America and stole her heart--But it took a fellow American in Italy to show her true love." (inside cover)
I rated this book 3 out of 5 stars. It was slow and hard to get interested at first. I couldnt put what I'd read in the prologue together with what I was reading in the book. I felt a disconnect. But it all came together at the end.
This is the story of an American woman married to an Italian man. They moved to Italy to his home after having a child and marrying. He is away on business more than he's home and she's raising the child alone. She suspects he isnt alone while traveling and is cheating on her but he tells her this is the way it is in Italy, get used to it.
The woman meets her new male American neighbor and they become friends. Friendship develops into more than friendship but with the Italian husband threatening her with taking her son away from her, she tells her new friend she must never see him again. Does it end there? It is a love story. Will it have a happy ever after ending?
It is a story of a young American woman who marries an Italian man, moves to Italy, has his child and lives a very lonely life in a loveless marriage. She meets an American man and they become fast friends and soon fall in love.
The story is wonderful and you will find when you finish the book you wish it was not over and it would continue forever.
This was a rare read for me since there's no time for novels.
This book is a Italian travel guide, Cliff notes on Italian, and an unbelievable love story. It's emotional highs and lows affected me physically! Extremely well written and read. Since I didn't read the jacket, it was more emotional because I didn't know about the ending; happy or sad. 5 star in the opinion of this PG guy.
A love story with a underlying commentary on family and culture and how much we'll sacrifice for both. It was an interesting book but I found myself just continually wondering, "Do they end up together?"
