This is a bitter-sweet love story, which I loved. It is a perfect quick, cozy read for a cold winter night. Just grab a cup of hot chocolate and enjoy.

Beautiful story. One year to the day after their wedding Neil is shipped out to war. W.W.1 was in full swing and Neil was going to be sent over seas to fight soon. Caroline was expecting their baby. He promised to be back in a year--Valentines Day and he would bring back the Valentine and rose he left with, for her. He promised her he would return. He promised and promised each letter. For fifty years she sat at the train station every Valentines day waiting for him to keep his promise and to revieve The Last Valentine. I loved this story--get out the kleenex and get ready to read a book that will not leave you for awhile. I'm going to bed tonight with a little more appreciation for promises made and roses.

If you are looking for a wonderful love story this would be it. The characters and plot are really well developed and the sequence of events keeps you on your toes. I'm not sure that I necessarily liked how the author chose to end the book. I sort of felt that there was this big build up and then the author wasn't sure how to end it, so he just pulled something out of nowhere to give it an ending. If you just accept the ending for what it is or rely on your spiritual teachings for understanding than it could work.

I just finished reading this wonderful book and gave it 5 stars!!!! It is so
touching and very heartfelt writing for a man.....I am used to women writing
stories like this... the book made me cry and laugh at the same time. Just such
a heartfelt book that will make anyone a "true believer" that love truly CAN
"conquer all". If you have the chance to grab this book and read it you will
NOT want to put it down until you have reached the very last page. I was
skeptical when I first started the book....but once I read the first few pages
I was hooked!!! You won't be sorry if you read this book and won't feel like
you wasted your time! Kudos to James Michael Pratt for a great book!!!

A timeless story of faith, strength, hope and never ending love. This book is a must read for anyone, not just the romance fans. Once I started this book I couldn't put it down. Even with tears streaming down my face I was glued to the story.

This is the first James Pratt book I have read, and I will read more. This was a wonderful love story set in the present but telling a love story about World War II. Good details and history about the war, a overall good, quick read.
