Lea Hernandez (born 11 March 1964) is an American comic book and webcomic creator who usually draws in a Japanese-influenced style. She is the co-creator of Killer Princesses with Gail Simone (published by Oni Press), and the creator of Rumble Girls (published by Image Comics). She has also worked for Marvel Comics and DC Comics with, for example, Punisher and Transmetropolitan. She has published her webcomics on Modern Tales and was the original editor of Girlamatic. Her webcomics include Atelier Divalea.
Apart from her comic publications, Hernandez has written several short stories for thematic collections of science fiction and fantasy. She was a vice president for General Products USA (the U.S. marketing arm of Gainax) from 1989—1990 [1] and was briefly a guest editor for Wizard [2].
On the morning of September 6, 2006, her home in Texas burned down and much of her original artwork was lost in the fire. Colleagues in the comics industry responded by collecting donations for Lea from fans and friends in the comics industry.
