She was born in New Haven, Connecticut but grew up in the Netherlands, England and New Jersey. A graduate of the New School for Social Research, she spent a number of years living and working in New York City. In 2000, she left a career in publicity to pursue her dream of becoming a full-time author. She now lives in Florida with her husband and their daughter.

Beautiful Lies was selected as an International Book of the Month, an honor bestowed upon only a few authors worldwide each year, with past recipients including Harlan Coben and Karin Slaughter. It was also chosen in 21st place in the top 50 "Best Books of 2006" by the editors of amazon.com, a BookSense pick in May 2006

and a finalist in the International Thriller Writers Organization "Best Novel" Award in 2007.

Sliver of Truth, the sequel, was also a BookSense pick in January 2007

Black Out, her first stand-alone novel, was selected as a Today show "Top 10" Summer Read, a BookSense Notable, won the Silver Medal for popular fiction in the 2008 Florida Book Awards and was a finalist in the 2009 Prix Polar International award.

Die for You, another stand-alone novel, was chosen as a Great Summer Read in Parade Magazine, featured on Good Morning America, a Book Pick in Good Housekeeping magazine and selected as a top summer pick on the Today show.

Fragile, was chosen as a Top Book Pick for Great Summer Reads on ABC's Good Morning America, and selected as a Hot Book by Harper's Bazaar
