I realy liked this book. it was very well written, the characters are like people i see in my home town every day, ha ha. the ending was very different from the usual bad guy gets his and everybody lives happily ever after stuff. I haven't seen the movie but i have a feeling i'll like the book better. i look foward to reading more from Jack Ketchum.

1965,summer, teenagers,Ray,Tim and Jennifer wer hanging out at the campgrounds, drinking. Then they saw what Ray did to 2 girls in a near-by camp. 4 years later, Ray thinks he got away with it and Tim and Jennifer think the worst is over. Not if one cop has his way. the worst is yet to come.
I love this author and this is the third book I read by him. I want to read all his books.

"The Lost" is another Jack Ketchem's meteor that lights up the sky in the psychological/horror/suspense genre. For those who seek a writer who brings terror and suspense to this genre, he's one of the best and he delivers with a shuttering impact. His 'The Girl Next Door' brought horror to a new light and this story breaks the sound barrier as we follow Ray Pye a young psychopath whose senseless killing of two young girls in the past haunts a small town, but more is coming as detective Schilling pursues that unsolved case with his intense eye on Ray Pye. Pye is a manipulator who takes control of those he selects as friends. He controls them and uses them for his own needs. And they come to fear him, not challenging his demands. But with pressure from Det. Schilling and his intense investigation, Pye becomes more deranged in his obsessive desires. As Det. Schilling ups the pressure, Ray Pye becomes more intense in his control. An ending that brings psychological insanity to full bloom and is terrifying. In short, a psychological thriller that will make you shutter.
Did not like this book at all! If you want to read about drugs, being drunk, having sex with everyone, and filthy dirty language then this is the one. It first starts out with a murder but then it just gets so far off track and the story goes on and on about the killer about what a disgusting depraved lunatic he is, I didn't find any of the characters worth even thinking about they all are so stupid, it isn't much of a cop story and that takes away from the story alot, so if you want to read about a drugged, drunk lunatic then get this one.
I am a big big movie buff and I don't think there was ever a movie made like this--the only way would be if it is a 'b' grade movie that never made the big screen and is sitting on a shelf somewhere or being played on Encore.

Another good horror story by Jack Ketchum. I enjoyed the book a great deal, however it wasn't as exciting as I had expected it to be.
Another great Jack Ketchum suspense thriller. And as always, Ketchum throws in some unusual and awesome twists that the reader wouldn't expect from any other author...especially at the end of the book! This book is fast paced, graphic at times, keeps the reader on the edge, and doesn't disappoint.
