This was a decent read with an interesting premise (Duke masquerading as a horse breeder). Had me cracking a smile at times. But I really think the book could have been much better had the author expanded upon what should have been pivotal and potentially very emotional scenes. Doing so could have added so much dimension to the characters. Instead, the author glossed and, at times, even skipped these potential scenes in favor of going right to them arguing--which they do for the majority of the book. This is endearing at first, but quickly becomes repetitive.

This book had potential to be more, but it's not a bad book to pick up to pass the time. Just don't expect it to be very memorial.

I've read almost all of Lindsey's books and this one is in the top three. It's funny and an easy page turner. Highly recommend this book.

If you like romance. You'll love Johanna Lindsey. I don't read much romance, but I like all of hers.

From the back cover...

The most desirable beauty in the land, wildly unpredictable Megan Penworthy has set her amorous sights on Ambrose St. James, Duke of Wrothston-a man she has never met but has every intention of marrying. No other suitor will satisfy her-especially not the common, if uncommonly handsome, horse breeder, Devlin Jefferys.

Posing as lowborn Jefferys to escape a potentially fatal confrontation, Ambrose is enthralled and infuriated by the brazen, duke-hunting redhead. Without revealing his true identity, the notorious rogue vows to foil Megan's plans to wed the man of her dreams-never imagining the enchanting scheme would turn out to be the only woman he would ever dream of marrying.

I read this book years ago when I was still in high school, but it was still as funny and delightful now as it was then. This is an author who's books never fail to disappoint me.

Our gold-digging heroine sets her sights on marrying a duke she has never met, but unwillingly falls for a lowly horse-breeder. Little does she know, the horse-breeder is her duke, in disguise.

The story is set in England in the late 1800's. Our heroine is strong, and determined, and not afraid pushing the restraints on women during the time. Our hero is funny, protective, and of course crazy about her, he just doesn't know it.

Beautiful Megan Penworthy has decided to marry a Duke to upstage the Countess of Wedgewood, who snubbed her. She sets her sights on Sir Ambrose, Duke of Wrothston. She has heard he is very handsome and she knows he has a wonderful stable and as she is so very fond of horses. Little does she know that the horse breeder that is now in her stable is really the Duke in hiding. Naturally she falls for the horse breeder, but is still wanting a Duke. What now?

Standard Lindsey, but worth getting just for the hilarious inside cover painting -- an excessively tanned (and still beady-eyed) Fabio, wearing nothing but a strategically-placed, excessively pale, highly nubile maiden.

I had read Love Me Forever several months ago not realizing that it was a second book. I just read Man of my Dreams tonight and it makes me want to read Love Me Forever all over again. I really enjoyed both of these.

Or course the horse breeder is the Sir Ambrose, you saw that one coming! This was a lot of fun, I really enjoyed it. They have great chemistry.

Enjoyed the book very much but the copy I have has 3 pages faded so badly they couldn't be read. Does anyone have the paperback - red cover - who can send me pages 380, 393 and 396? Thanks much.
