Despite the 3/5 rating I gave it,I did enjoy the book. I like the setting, the community and the array of characters featured in the story. I also liked that the main character Dove is sweet and godly in character, and seems like someone you would like to know in real life. However, the characters seem stiff, the dialogue not something you would hear from real people, even the most "godly" amongst us. At times I got bored, so I'd skim for a page before latching on again. I felt that the writer was trying to develop Dove's love interest's character, but I felt his development lacked depth and was simplistic. But it was a nice story, and a good book to read between emotionally draining books

I really enjoyed this book. Morning for Dove is the second in a series by Martha Rogers and is about a young woman named Dove overcoming difficulties and prejudice. Highly recommended.

This is the second book in the series by Martha Rogers & this so far (I am now on the third title) my favorite due to the fact that is surrounds a family with the Mother being Native American & her life with her white husband & their children. They have lots of predjudice from people in town & is only cause more problems when the daughter falls in love with the shopkeepers son who's Mother had her family killed by Indians. She is reunited with her long lost sister who she thought had died when she was taken by the Indians who killed their family. with Dove's Brother Elk. Another great story with a great ending. Lots of twists & turns in the events that happen to the town & the people in it.
