Unsophisticated but fun, the Mrs. Pollifax books are quick, easy reads. I enjoyed this one more than the previous two in the series.
Chosen as a decoy (because she is so good at looking like an 'innocent tourist') to accompany her old friend Farrell to Jordan, here Mrs. Pollifax, as usual, gets swept up in events more dangerous than anticipated. The mild risk of their intended mission (secretly picking up a manuscript from a dissident Iraqi author) is compounded when the innocent tourist 'disguise' leads the two into a web of murder, terrorism and kidnapping...

Great light spy thriller!
Working with her retired CIA friend John Farrell, Mrs. Pollifax must smuggle a manuscript out of Jordan, a document that encodes the shocking truth of Saddam Hussein's reign. Hardly are the two airborne when the coils of Middle Eastern intrigue begin to unwind. Mrs. P.'s seatmate is not the affable Arab bussinessman he pretends to be. It is not imagination that persuades Mrs. P. that wherever they go, she and Farrell are followed. To elude their pursuers in such a politically volatile country isn't easy. In fact it can be downright deadly!

Mrs.Pollifax, travelling as a cover companion for retired CIA Farrell, sits with a world-known and hunted-for terrorist on the plane, has a "gift" sneaked into her luggage...

Mrs. Pollifax, the CIA's special operative from New Jersey, agrees to act as cover for a CIA agent who is traveling to Iraq to retrieve a manuscript written by a silenced Iraqi author. How is it that she happens to sit next to a terrorist on the airplane who hides a mysterious map and key in her belongings? Once again, Mrs. Pollifax finds herself at the center of an international intrigue.

In her the first Mrs. Pollifax book, Mrs. Pollifax is a mature older woman who was bored with life so she walked in to the CIA and asked for a job as a spy/secret agent! She had no idea what she was getting herself in to--but she is having a great time. I have loved all of the Mrs. Pollifax books and this one is no exception--another great adventure.

Mrs. Pollifax heads to Jordan to assist in retrieving a manuscript smuggled out of Iraq. Published in 1997 but sadly many of the Mid-Eastern scenarios feel like they could have been written last week. A fast read, entertaining, with a little local history and color thrown in â an enjoyable couple of hours. I won't remember it a month from now, but no matter.

Mrs. Pollifax is board with life as a widow and joins the CIA. This is the 13th in the series, with Mrs. Pollifax heads to the middle east to smuggle out a manuscript that exposes Saddam Hussain
