This is an interesting situation that caught my attention from teh beginning. There is a lot to process but I made sure to take my time.

This author definitely an author who takes her time to look at all the little details.

It surprised me with how little was shown in the trial but times were different back then.

This is a scholarly work, and can be a little dry and repetitive at times. But if you stick with it, you get a really good idea of life in New York in the early 19th C. The murder itself and subsequent solution are pretty straight-forward. This isn't a "whodunnit" but rather a "whydunnit" with no real answer.

The period atmosphere is superbly done and well worth the read.
