"SUPERB...I'LL HEARTILY RECOMMEND ON MYSTIC LAKE TO ANY WOMAN... WHO DEMANDS THAT A STORY LEAVE HER IN A SATISFIED GLOW." - The Washington Post Book World

Annie Colwater's husband has just confessed that he's in love with a younger woman. Devastated, Annie retreats to the small town where she grew up. There, she is reunited with her first love, Nick Delacroix, a recent widower who is unable to cope with his silent, emotionally scarred young daughter. Together, the three of them begin to heal. But just when Annie believes she's been given a second chance at happiness, her world is turned upside down again, and she is forced to make a choice that no woman in love should ever have to make...

On MYSTIC LAKE is the story of one woman, but it speaks to all of us - to anyone who has ever had to find the courage to choose between what is... and what could be.

Annie Colwater puts her daughter on a plane to England for the summer she has always been a wife and mother. She is sad at her daughters leaving but thinks she willhav more time for her husband. Instead he confesses that he is in love with another younger woman. She had missed all the signs and is heart broken and not sure how to get over this. It is a great book as most of Kristin Hannah's are.

Annie Colwater's only child has just left home for school abroad. On that same day, her husband of twenty years confesses that he's in love with a younger woman. Alone in the house that is no longer a home, Annie comes to the painful realization that for years she has been slowly disappearing. Lonely and afraid, she retreats to Mystic, the small Washington town where she grew up, hoping that there she can reclaim the woman she once wasthe woman she is now desperate to become again.

In Mystic, she is reunited with her first love, Nick Delacroix, a recent widower unable to cope with his grieving, too-silent six-year-old daughter, Izzie. Together, the three of them begin to heal, and, at last, Annie learns that she can love without losing herself. Kristen Hannah is a wonderful writer. This is one of her earlier ones about a woman whose husband leaves her without a warning and how she puts her life back together again. It's a good, easy read!

This is only my third Kristin Hannah book after FIREFLY LANE and TRUE COLORS, which I loved. I also truly enjoyed this one, but did find it formulaic and it seemed much like a Nicholas Sparks story (which I also love). If i have any complaint, it was that I thought this one so predictable. That being said, I would recommend it to anyone who loves a good love story. Just don't look for the depth and richness in her later characters. after all, this was written in 1999. Fun read and quick.

am giving this one star as it reminds me of harlequin and is too light.
