Giving 3* but only because I think it deserves better than a 1 or 2

I didn't like any of the characters, the niece/daughter was irritating, the uncle/dad, Rath, is a retired cop that 'consults' but now that the murderer of his sister/husband is out of prison and he wants to catch him again the cops make him (retired remember) the senior detective on the case, just not believable.

Then when it hit the part that Canada was brought into it I just sort of lost a little interest and I found my attention dragging, by page 250 it was getting bogged down with too many descriptions and meandering all over the place that just didn't have anything to do moving the story along but just making more pages for the book

So when it hits about the middle of the book and it hasn't gotten very far into a really thriller then it just starts dragging

Rave reviews doesn't always mean it's for everyone and even though this is the genre I read all the time I'm very picky about the writing, this would've gotten 5* if the story had been tighter and more thriller instead of all the pages of nothing
