This book was just not that good. It seemed to take forever to get to the point. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because I really didn't know who the killer was until the end.

Good book! It's the story of a 20 year high school class reunion. Anyone having ever gone to a class reunion can relate to the pre-reunion jitters the characters go through. Unfortunately, present at the reunion is a murderer on a mission of vengeance against some female classmates who once humiliated him.

This one is a real page turner!

This time out, Clark ups the ante from her standard female-in-peril plot to three females in peril, all targets of a serial killer who fancies himself a night-hunting predator: "I am the Owl," he whispers to himself after he has selected his prey, "and nighttime is my time." The Owl kills his first victim, then it's off to attend his 20th high school reunion at Stonecroft Academy in Cornwall-on-Hudson, where he intends to do in the last several women who humiliated him when he was a geeky high school student. Jean Sheridan, one of the intended victims, was actually nice to the Owl, but he decides she has to die anyway because someone told him she once made fun of him. Jean's daughter, Lily, whom Jean gave away at birth, must also die, for obscure reasons, as must Laura, the class beauty. In the course of stalking and capturing these three, the Owl kills several innocent bystanders just to vent his anger and alludes to dozens more he has slaughtered over the years. The game here is figuring out which of the men who come to the reunion, all former nerds, is the Owl: Carter Stewart, now a genius playwright; Mark Fleischman, a psychiatrist with a syndicated television program; Gordon Amory, television magnate; Robby Brent, famous comedian; or Jack Emerson, local real estate tycoon. If the killer's animal fetish is the Owl, then Clark's is surely the red herring as she cleverly throws them in by the dozen, providing irrefutable proof that first one man, then another, must be guilty. Since any of the men might be the killer, the final revelation is anticlimactic, but Clark's multitude of fans will be happy enough to spend time with the innocent and imperiled Jean and to participate in the guessing game.

One of Mary Higgins Clark's better novels.

'The Owl' is out to eliminate everyone he feels embarassed him as a teenager who was homely and stuttered. He has successfully killed 4 of the 6 women whom he has targeted, the last 2 will be attending a reunion being given to honor the men and women who have become successful and famous since their graduation from Stonecroft Academy, the private school they all attended.

The identity of 'The Owl' is part of the suspense; is it the famous playwriter, the successful real-estate agent, the movie producer, the stand-up comic, or the child psychiatrist? At one moment or another they could all appear to be guilty. Dr. Jean Sheridan, one of the last 2 women still alive, has been sent ominous messages, someone knows about the daughter she gave up for adoption 19 years earlier. What does the person want? As she begins to delve into who is sending the messages, she begins to suspect they are related to the deaths of the other women.

Ms. Clark doesn't disappoint.

Jean doesn't want to go to her 20 year school reunion where she was to be honored but once they decided to have a memorial for her friend that passed away she couldn't skip it. She had planned to go with her friend when she died in an accident. There are a lot of memories there and she hated to bring them all back to the surface. Several of her classmates had died in accidents and one committed suicide. She also visited the mother of a classmate who had been stabbed in her bed 20 years before. The first day there she was accosted by a pushy teen reporter doing interviews for the school paper and he asked her to look at list of names. She was started to learn that 5 of the girls she used to share a table with during school lunches had died over the past 20 years and there were only 2 of them left. She was shocked when the reported asked if she thought it was odd that they had died in the order they sat at the table. Laura, the next one in the lineup disappears and the other's get worried. She hasn't checked out of her room but it isn't the first time she changed her plans and took off. The other's don't know what to think.

NIGHTTIME IS MY TIME started out engaging as the multiple players are introduced and a central investigation gets underway, but after about the first 100 pages, the next 200 pages become a generic strain of false leads and red herrings.

In the end, the person who turns out to be the culprit felt extremely random. It could've been any one of the classmates.

You may find this interesting if you've not read many mysteries before. But if you have, this will read like a story you've read before. Nothing new here, it's a very generic and average mystery.

I've been a fan of Mary Higgins Clark's earlier books, but I don't think I'll bother reading anymore of her new releases. They're just assembly line productions now.
