The moving story of a pioneer woman from childhood to adulthood, by the pioneer author Willa Cather. A classic and a must-read. Both my teenage daughter and I loved it.

Willa Cather is a Great American Author and does and exceptional job in bringing the hard times of settling the Nebraska Prairie to life through her strong, independent lead character, Alexandra. I enjoyed this book immensely.
When Alexandra Bergson, daughter of Swedish immigrants, takes over the family farm after her father's death, she falls under the spell of the forbidding Nebraska . Interesting account of pioneers taming an unwelcoming land.
