Odette Joyeux (December 5, 1914 – August 26, 2000) was a French actress and writer of novels, plays, and scripts.
Born in Paris, and she studied dance at the Paris Opera Ballet for a while before entering the stage. Joyeux started film career in 1931 Her first notable film was Marc Allegret's Entrée des artistes (1938). During the 1940s she established herself as one of France's most popular cinema actresses. However after 1950 her film appearances were rare.
She is also the author of some novels, of plays, of essays on Nicephore Niepce and on the dance, and of two books of literature for the youth evoking the dance: L'Âge heureux (adapted to the television) and Côté jardin. Joyeux also wrote The Bride Is Much Too Beautiful (1956) (adapted to the film).
She was married to actor Pierre Brasseur from 1935 until their divorce in 1945. They had one child, Claude Brasseur who is the father of Alexandre Brasseur. In 1958 she married director Philippe Agostini.
Joyeux and Agostini were married until her death in Ollioules, Var, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France from stroke, aged 85.
