This is a âjust post first-contact' tale, an interweaving of ideals and practicality, schemes and counter schemes. Religious and political factions clash, as do financial institutions of several planets.
One character says "My name is Janni. I am a duranni, a native of Outre Mer. I have a mind. I believe that I have a soul. I am a person.
For a first novel it is intricately plotted, perhaps overly complex as it was sometimes difficult to follow the characters.

My husband read this book and he said this was one of the better independent Sci-Fi books he's read in a VERY long time.
