Yesterday I read that the final book in this series is an ebook novella, Darkness On Fire.  Wish I bookmarked it on the webpage where I read it.  There was even some comments regarding it and one comment was by someone that was upset that the finale was in ebook format only since not everyone that follows the series read books on PC or ereaders.

So after The Darkness Beyond (Paladins, Bk 8) by Alexis Morgan, there is only the ebook novella to finish the series.  As slow as the FIFO is going, at number 55 I'll probably get it in the spring so maybe I should just go ahead and buy the ebook now!

Has anyone else read/heard of this?

I didn't hear that, and I hope it's not true. I only read paperbacks. Hopefully they'll be another way to read it.

I read on her blog that the series was ending soon.  Made me so sad :(

Thanks for the heads up. I downloaded it (only $3.99) and read it yesterday. If that's the final one, it's a pretty weak ending. Book was fine - not my favorite - but fine.  However, it was simply another episode in their lives where a Paladin and love interest connect amidst the ongoing issues.  No conclusion at all to the larger story.

However, Alexis Morgan does say on her website:

Thank you to everyone who has let me know that they've enjoyed Darkness on Fire. I'm glad Penn's story finally came out and that the response has been positive. I wish it wasn't the last Paladin release for now, but I'm planning on continuing to add stories here on the website at least for a while.

So if you are a Paladin fan, check out her Members Only pages. She has a series of short stories posted; pretty much one per month. (Really short - like 1-2 pages printed.)  Unfortunately they don't have any descriptions, just short titles without much meaning by themselves.  But they read like chapters of a continuing story with extracted scenes from their lives. So just start at the top and read all. The September and October stories sort of pick up where the last book ended, with another Paladin (Lonzo) on guard duty as a homeless person where Penn's story began.
