The Postman Always Rings Twice Author:James M. Cain A young vagrant and the sexy, bored wife of a restaurant owner plan to murder her husband, with unexpected results. This, Cain's first novel, was published when he was forty-two and became an instant sensation. It was banned in Boston, and Albert Camus later acknowledged that is was both the inspiration and the model for his own book, The Stranger.
It's a short read and one that holds your attention. I didn't want to set the book down. It's more of a crime murder than a whodunit mystery ... as who know who's murdering who. I look forward to seeing the movie now.

I've read almost all the James Cain novels and this one is probably my favorite (Mildred Pierce running a close second). He really is a master of this genre. A scandalous story about lust and murder. Highly recommended.
