Even though this was a pretty good story, I definitely expected something better from this author. This story didn't keep me glued to the pages that many of her others did. I was a bit surprised that such a long book could be contrived from such a lame plot.
Book 3 in an excellent trilogy. I liked this book- lots of humor-esp with the 16 uncles who all think they know what's best for Melissa. They seem to be always under foot scaring off her suitors. They are a big pain in Lincoln's arse too-even try to shanghi him off to China. Very funny with some heart wrenching parts too.
Lincoln Ross Burnett wants Melissa MacGregor for his bride. Melissa has
sixteen uncles who think that they know what is best for her. They remember Lincoln from their childhood and don't think he is right for her. Lincoln and Melissa have a sizable obstacle to overcome to be together.
A chance encounter before her presentation in London causes many adventures and misfortunes as a courtship that will never be forgotten. Especially by her family. To win her love, Lincoln Ross Burnett must prove to all of her many half-brothers that he has changed from the lad that they knew. And only his mother whom he has been estranged from for many years knows the truth of what caused his bazaar behaviour those many years ago.
Melissa MacGregor goes on an adventure from her home in Scotland to the London social scene. Before leaving she meets Lincoln Burnett, Viscount Cambury. Melissa instantly knows Lincoln is her destiny, Lincoln realizes his heart has been claimed by Melissa but he must overcover Melissa's 16 dispproving uncles whom Lincoln has a falling out with as a child. Sequel to Love Me Forever
What was to be a grand adventure for Melissa MacGregor - an escape from the wilds of her Scottish home into the whirl of the London social scene - seems to pale before the promise in the passionate gaze of Lincoln Ross Burnett. Though they exchange but a few words before parting after a chance encounter on her grandfather's lands, Melissa instantly knows this bold stranger is her destiny, while Lincoln realizes his heart has been claimed forever and he will never be complete until Melissa MacGregor is his bride.
But there are of course some serious obstacles. I wasn't sure how she was going to pull this one off! But she did, and it was fun. It hung together pretty well. I liked this one a lot, and this author is one I'm looking forward to reading more of.
In this lighthearted historical romance Melissa and Lincoln have fallen in love. All should be well but there is one problem: Melissa's 16 overprotective uncles remember Lincoln's rather wild childhood and hence don't approve of the match. But times have changed and even as the uncles set out to destroy his relationship with Melissa, Lincoln works to prove himself a man worthy of her love--and of her uncle's respect. Will Melissa and Lincoln be able to prove to her uncles that their love is true?
