He graduated from the University of Buffalo with a Ph.d. He studied with Robert Creeley, Charles Bernstein and Susan Howe. He is a lecturer at Yale University.
His poems have appeared in such places as Sulfur, Field, Indiana Review, and The Nation, as well as Great American Prose Poems: From Poe to the Present.
He is married to the poet Nancy Kuhl, and they edit the New Haven-based Phylum Press.
