I used to like this series and the characters, but the last couple have been very below standard good reading.
The story just wasn't very good and along with a lot of it being in italics (which is a huge pet peeve for me)I just gave up before half way. The dialogue just gets tiresome and I just can't believe anyone (even though it is a western) talks like Cole (sounds illiterate), and if you really think about it almost all westerns are alike, so I'd say I'm just tired of the series and the characters (almost getting cartoon like) and Knott's writing isn't great.
As a comparison I'd say it's equal to the Stuart Woods Stone Barrington series, which I gave up years ago as the characters seem more like stone characters with no depth to them but being rich and overly polite all the time.
