Simon Rose's first novel for young readers, The Alchemist's Portrait, published in 2003, was nominated for the Golden Eagle Award. The Sorcerer's Letterbox, published in 2004, was also nominated for the Golden Eagle Award, along with the Silver Birch Award (Ontario Library Association) and Diamond Willow Award (Saskatchewan Young Readers' Choice Awards). His other novels are The Clone Conspiracy (2005), The Emerald Curse (2006), The Heretic's Tomb (2007) and The Doomsday Mask, (2009). A seventh novel for middle grades, The Time Camera, will be published in 2011, along with The Insistence of Memory, a novel for young adults. He is also a contributing author to The Complete Guide to Writing Science Fiction, Volume One, (2007), has written several books for younger readers with educational publishers, and his articles have appeared in newsletters, magazines and online publications.

Simon has served as a juror for numerous literary awards, conducts a wide variety of workshops for both children and adults, including school visits, author in residence programs, classes for home school students, virtual author visits by video using Skype and a variety of online workshops. He is an instructor with the National Writing for Children Center, the University of Calgary, Chinook Learning Services and several other organizations, works with writers as an editor and coach and offers copywriting services for businesses for websites, blogs and advertising and promotional materials.
