The read was an interesting read but seemed to be a flat lined story. The story just kept plodding along.

This book is about Winchester Cathedral, the beautiful kneeling pads there, and the women who made them. It is set in 1932, so you know what is coming from Europe in just a few years. Hitler is referred to, and people are concerned. It's sad not to be able to scream at them what is coming. There is also a bit of an education about the bell ringers in these churches. Violet is our main character, who leaves home and an incredibly annoying mother, and becomes a broderer at the Cathedral. She is 38, and it's about time she spread her wings a little. There is also a same sex romance thrown in, since this book was published in 2019. All in all pleasant enough, but there was a lot going on in this book. It reads quickly, but there were so. many story lines I was never sure where we were going.
