White waiting for a verdict on a court case, Detective Tracy Crosswhite is contacted by a friend who works in Missing Persons. Graduate student Kavita Muhkerjee was recently reported missing by her roommate. She was estranged from her family. Kavita wanted to go to medical school to become a doctor, but her family wanted to arrange a marriage for her. As Tracy interviews Kavita's friends and family, her fellow detectives as looking into the murder of Monique Rodgers, an activist who was very vocal against gangs and drugs.

We have two very good cases in this book. While the detectives are busy with their various cases, Tracy is hiding her pregnancy from her Captain. She is afraid her secret is out when Captain Nolasco hires a new female detective to work with them. There is something suspicious about Detective Andrea Gonzalez and her actions.

I enjoyed this book and both of the mysteries. I highly recommend this series. My rating: 4 Stars.

This book has Tracy working on a murder case and trying to keep her pregnancy a secret. Good luck with that, since her despised boss has already brought in a new cop to replace her.

The book focuses more on her colleague Vic "Faz" Fazzio, which is a smooth move by Dugoni to keep the pregnant woman out of harm's way. Faz's investigation into the murder of a local community activist turns violent, and he has his hands full trying to find the truth and keep his job.

A Steep Price moves quickly and kept me guessing. It also has one of my favorite descriptive passages so far this year concerning glass shards and a stained-glass window.

This is one of the most draggy, slow moving stories I've tried to get through: too many storyline in this one

1. Tracy is pregnant
2. Vera has cancer
3. murder leading to gangs
4. Little Jimmy resent detective that sent father (Big Jimmy) to prison and got killed---drugs
5. missing girl from India descent--so here you have the hard names that impossible to pronounce (pet peeve)
6. new female detective moves into the A team--resent happening but yet another storyline to unravel

Just too much going in this book and it was slow and draggy with too much descriptions to fill the pages

Bummer!
