Stella Tillyard is a British author, best known for the best-selling Aristocrats: Caroline, Emily, Louisa and Sarah Lennox, 1740-1832 which was made into a BBC Miniseries in 1999.
Stella Tillyard studied at Oxford and Harvard Universities, and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. She has taught at Harvard, UCLA, and London University. For long periods she has lived in the United States and Italy, and now lives in London.
She is at present writing the first of two planned historical novels set in the Regency period. It is due for publication in 2010.
Aristocrats was described as "compulsively readable" by The New York Times Book Review and "singular and remarkable" by The Washington PostA Royal Affair is described by the New York Times as "scrupulously researched" but "looking at history sentimentally."
