Uwe Kreisel (; born 1961 in Mannheim, Germany) is a writer and textbook author in the fields of linguistics, ESL, and cross-cultural topics. He is also an expert in instructional design (courseware, textbooks, e-learning) and curriculum planning.

He is a member of the German artists’ guilds VG Wort and VG Bild und Kunst and has held fellowships from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His work today centers on textbook development and the visual communication of knowledge objects.

Kreisel's travel books focus on cross-cultural interferences and aim at providing practical solutions for the many pitfalls of traveling abroad. His books, all published in Germany, have been in reviewed by major newspapers, such as 'Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung' and 'Die Zeit'.

Uwe Kreisel is an outspoken critic of so-called productivity software. Quote: 'The most devastating consumer products of the 20th century are, arguably, the motorcar and word-processing software.' While cars and their internal combustions engines pollute, crowd our cities and cause thousands of fatalities, word processors such as 'Word' impose hundreds of assumptions on cognitive structure on the user ('AutoFormat', 'AutoCorrect').

As a cartoonist, Uwe Kreisel illustrated several of his own books. In 2006, he was a winner of Nintendo of America's "Pokémon Mystery Dungeon" art contest with a tongue-in-cheek cartoon on Franz Kafka's 1915 novella The Metamorphosis.

Mr. Kreisel currently resides in Jemgum, East Frisia, in the Upper Northwest of Germany. He also travels around the world, researching new books.
