What a great romance - so true to life since it is based on a true story. Two people who are soul mates fall in love and go through the many trials and tribulations that most couples go through - it tests their love for each other. It was nice to see written in a book the many things that can go wrong in a relationship and that people do work on their relationships and just don't give up.

A book about a real life marriage.
Jimmy and Nanci had a strong love and even though they made mistakes and some very poor choices their love for each other was real. After many years of life and day to day struggles they begin to forget how much they love each other. So they sit on Christmas with divorce papers that just need signatures to end the struggles of keeping this marriage together. Will they let it all go forever? What will they choose... The whisper of love left between them or the whisper of life outside calling them away from what they had and on to new and maybe better lives?

This is a poignant story about relationships, life, love, marriage, upset, forgiveness, understanding. I laughed and cried thru the whole thing. Based on a true story: the winning entry of a contest called the "Greatest Love Story Never Told," which rec'd thousands of entries.

I am obviously in the minority. I do not feel their relationship was beautiful or all that inspiring. I saw a toxic relationship from almost the beginning with a man who had three different affairs. Nanci I wanted to like but felt like she was willing to put anything aside to keep him and I think it was because of how she was raised.

While forgiveness is beautiful, I realize that she is still probably in a toxic relationship convinced she can do no better and is happy.

What is really sad is that there are many who live this every day.
