This is a prequel to the Agnes Browne series, and like the other books, it is wonderful in its warmth . Gives a lot of detail about Irish life in Belfast? Dublin?..I forgotten the location, but what is important here is the love and loyalty between family member and the two central characters- two women who have known each other since childhood and who have faced the hardships of lives of poverty together and with hope and laughter. Reminicent of Angela's Ashes, but not nearly as harsh.

This book takes you to Dublin in the 1940's giving you a taste of the life of a young woman coming of age. It is a prelude to a trilogy by this author. A great read filled with Irish wit.

This is a prequel to the Mammy. It is written in the same style as his other books and fills in the background about the Mammy. I loved this book and read it in one day.

Prequel to the Agnes Browne series and funniest book in the series in my opinion. This book goes back to the time when Agnes was a teen. So funny and hard to put down! I loved this whole series!
