This book is VERY hard to find. I had to read it for a Women in Nordic Society class and it is not on amazon or anywhere else online or in bookstores that I have seen. The book was just translated in 2006 so there aren't too many copies around, but it is a very good book.

It is rather choppy since it is written in kind of a diary like style, but it is a quick read and it gives you some good insight into the disappearing Sami culture.

Egalia's Daughters: A Satire of the Sexes (Women in Translation)
Review Date: 12/18/2007
Helpful Score: 1

I had to read this book for a Women in Nordic Societies class in college. Despite being required reading, it is a very funny and interesting book.

Brantenberg flips the sexes in this book (even renaming things such as calling men "menwim") in an attempt to satirize the supposed equality of the sexes in the nordic nations. The first few pages of acquanting yourself with what she renames everything is a little difficult, but it gets much easier to read after the first few pages.

Ski Style: Sport And Culture In The Rockies (Cultureamerica)

This book is a very thorough description of the ski industry and yet doesn't read like a history book. Lots of interesting ideas in this book.

A very interesting play. It's about witches, and yet it's not.

Very good book once you get into it. There were some twists in the plot I didn't expect, which was nice.

This book is very interesting and the ending of the tale "The Yellow Wallpaper" is definitely a shocker!
