This should be classified as a children's book rather than young adult.

I loved Beastly (the film, haven't read the book) which is about senior's in high school and Kendra is a high schooler. In this book (which isn't even about Kendra - she shows up about as much as she does in Beastly)they are in middle school with the same maturity you would expect from middle schoolers.

So while an actual middle schooler might enjoy this book, as an adult that reads Young Adult books, I couldn't get through it.

It was great.
(It won't let me leave this blank and I don't feel like writing a real review.)

I didn't get passed the first couple of pages because the girl's thoughts were so crass I couldn't stand to listen to her.
