Perfect for students of elementary and middle school gae who have to do reports on prominent American heroes. Well illustrated and presnet the main facts on each hero on a separate page. Timeline also provided on each page. A big help to get started on any Socail Studies project involving US History.

This is one of my favorite books of all times. Without delving into the spiritual aspects of heaven, it gives you insight in what the afterlife may hold. A beautiful story, it never gets sappy or judgmental, just unwinds and you never guess what the author has in mind. Mitch Albom can weave a great tale. The movie was close to the book, but I always prefer the book.

It is one of the best memoirs I have read, I passed my book to all my friends and gave it to my teens to read. A childhood with such gross neglect in a dysfunctional family and with parents who apparently must have been mentally and emotionally unbalanced, baffles my mind. Jeannette Walls is a gifted writer and manages to capture the reader with all the right elements. Each time you think it cannot possibly get worse, the next chapter takes it up a notch. Her story is so hard to believe and how she made it through all this advertity. I have never thought about a homeless person the same way after reading this.

Roy is an amazing story-teller and wordsmith. Her exotic descriptions are vivid, haunting and her rendering of children's thoughts and habits very life-like. The non-linear plot has you a bit confused at first but once you settle into the rhythm of the book, you enjoy each chapter as it comes, expecting the story to unfold to finally tell you what "terror" the book hints at all along. Roy is a gifted writer and well worth your time. I will definitely seek other books by her.
