Easy enjoyable read. A co-worker that I loaned it to read it as quickly as I did and then was looking for a copy to give her mother as a gift. I gave her my copy which she put in a gift basket along with treats from the 3 dog bakery for her mother to treat her Golden Retriever, a therapy dog that visits nursing homes and hospitals.

If you are at all interested in the spinning or weaving arts and the old tale of Rumpelstiltskin you will find this an entertaining read.

An excellent beginner book. Not just for someone wanting to write music. Explains notes, rhythm, symbols you might see in music notation and what they mean. As a beginner I have referenced to this book several times already while learning a new piece.

I absolutely loved this book! I didn't want it to end. I went on to read "World Without End" which is a sort of sequel to this book and enjoyed it, but Pillars was by far my favorite. History, Politics, Religion, Deceit, Love, Faith you name it this book has it!

This is an amazingly good cookbook. I bought one new for myself and one as a gift for my sister several years ago. I use mine alot but my sister actually wore hers out (evidently she bakes more than I do!) The pages were literally falling out of hers, it had been loved so much. I put this on my wish list and found her a replacement, it came to me from another paperback swapper and I am happy to say it was in like new condition.
I have to say everything I have made from this book has turned out great. The book itself is laid out very well, the recipies are easy to follow, all the ingredients and measures are stated first (I had one recipe book that listed the ingredients throughout the directions and I really don't like that method).
A great go to book for baking.

A mixed lot of characters, some good & some bad. The main characters lives aren't all warm and fuzzy, they hit some bumps in the road, use some poor judgment but eventually the good guys find eachother.

This book isn't what I had hoped it would be. I kept reading it after I lost interest hoping it would get better. It didn't. Disappointing

Mixed about this book. Subject was interesting but there wasn't much depth to the characters. I could pretty much guess at the ending right away.

I thought it was worth the read due to the subject matter. The writing in the book itself became repetitive and less interesting as it progressed. The authors idea of educating girls is honorable but it leaves the boys to be educated by the warring extremists.

I really thought this book would be a lame attempt at a Hansel & Gretel "remake". I was really surprised at how well the author presented her version of the classic tale. Not a light and airy fairy tale, but a much darker tale of survival. The characters in the classic version are here, they just are not what you think. I really enjoyed this book.

I found this book to be interesting and entertaining to a point, then it started getting repetitive and the ending I thought was contrived. I agree with an earlier reviewer who stated that she thought the author didn't know how to end it and so didn't supply it with a good ending.

If you are new to weaving and need a good book to explain how to warp your loom, this is THE book. I read other books and still struggled with the whole chain and cross thing, until I read this book and figured out "it does work" and it's easier than it sounds.....it's just a process.

Good book, easy read. 3 generations all start out problems and personal tradgedies haunting their past. Gets warm and fuzzy by the end, they are working it all out. Country Charm, quilting, friendship.
