Excellent book with interesting plot. When a dead body is found on the steps of a member of the English upper class in London, Pitt begins a search that leads to intrigue and sub-plots. In typical Anne Perry fashion, social ills of the time period are highlighted along with the contrast of the social classes in London in the late 1800s. I enjoy watching the characters develop throughout the series and we learn more about Sargeant Tellman in this book. You won't be disappointed in this tale.

Unique plot with an older Sherlock Holmes and young Mary Russell. Intricate plot with a good bit of narrative about the development of the characters. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

As usual, Anne Perry leaves the resolution to the crime to the end of the book. This book continues the story of Charlotte and Thomas Pitt. Charlotte is the strong heroine that Anne has created for this series. I had a hard time putting this one down.

I enjoyed this book, but didn't think it was of the same caliber as the first four. It goes back in time and tells the story including the perspective of some of the other characters.

I really liked the way the plot continued to surprise me. Maggie Hope is a strong, believable character.

This is another wonderful book by Perry. The story line is excellent and allows great insight into the social mores of the times. The contrasts between the social classes is shown with great insight and gives you an understanding of what it might have been like to have been poor or a servant during this period of history. The plot is exciting and the ending is shocking.

This has been one of my favorite books in the Charles Lenox series. I find Lenox a very likeable character, unlike many protagonists of other murder mystery series. He is kind, thoughtful and compassionate, yet astute. A Stranger in Mayfair gives us a peak into Parliament of that day, while Charles tries to unravel the murder of a footmen employed by a fellow member of Parliament. I thought the mystery was well thought out and I am enjoying the development of the character of his junior apprentice. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
