This is the second mystery in the Maisie Dobbs series and I thoroughly enjoyed it. These books are set in England between the two world wars, and Winspear sketches in nice details of the time and the setting. Maisie Dobbs (private investigator and "psychologist") is a great character, having grown up working class, served as a nurse during WWI, and moving now in upper class circles. She uses meditation and centering to help her solve her cases, which is a neat idea.

An interesting read and a testament to one girl's resilience. Paula Fox describes her growing up experiences in Cuba and across the US, shuffled between different caregivers. Amazing to think she came through it intact.

This was an interesting mystery (translated into Dutch). Even for someone with Dutch as a second language it was enjoyable and readable!

This mystery was translated into Dutch and I read it to keep up my Dutch language skills. It was a fun read with a cool premise.

Even After All This Time : A Story of Love, Revolution, and Leaving Iran
Review Date: 3/2/2009

Very interesting memoir. Amazing to learn what families in Iran were going through in the 70's and 80's, while I went through life as an oblivious American teenager consumed with petty adolescent concerns! Also covers the author's experiences as a teen immigrant to the U.S.
