A fun romp through a universe that's a great exercise in world-building. Much better than the usual "man from planet without women meets women for first time" premise. Actual gay characters!

Fabulous novel, literate fantasy with amazing world building in a place not unlike our own, but with a few very basic differences. Nice portrayal of same-sex relationships and a fluid view if sexuality very different from our own binary view, but that's only an undercurrent of this text on mythology, history, belief, and scholarship. An enthralling read.

A deeply intricate world, with all the elements of a great science fiction / fantasy epic condensed into a single novel. Excellent characters and world-building. A great read!
