Serious Creativity: Using the Power of Lateral Thinking to Create New Ideas
Review Date: 7/2/2013

This book addresses creativity in the context of the business world, rather than artistic creativity. It has some good ideas on how to unleash creative thinking in work groups to improve problem solving and come up with innovative solutions.

This book by Simon Bond, author of A Hundred and One Uses for a Dead Cat, is a series of cartoons for grown-ups showing teddy bears in improbable but recognizable situations. Teddy with the Statue of Liberty, Teddy as the Mona Lisa, teddy bears in the wild and in captivity, etc. It's a fun little book for teddy bear lovers anywhere--but not for children!

This is a fascinating pictorial look at how we work, here in the USA. It contains photographs of people at work in so many different occupations, from fireman to braille proofreader to yacht builder to pig farmer. Diverse, interesting, just like the USA itself.

The author says she "wanted to capture the beauty of the American people in a unique way...Recorded here are ordinary people, who in their diversity and uniqueness offer a cross-section of the richness of American life as it is experienced apart from celebrity, headlines, and passing fashions."
